Terms builder
Write General terms that fit your kind of work in a few minutes. Answer a short interview and BookingLink drafts plain-English terms customers accept when they book — built around the situations that actually cause disputes in your industry.
Before you start
- Your business type is set (Profile). The interview picks its situations from it.
- Your address includes a state. The terms name the state whose law applies; you can type it in the interview if it's missing.
- Services with prices and deposits are optional, but the draft reflects them when they exist.
How to use it
From onboarding
- On the Terms step, tap Write them for me.
- Check the facts we pulled from your account and fill in the rest: cancellation notice, what happens inside that window, when payment is due.
- Answer each Situation — for example, *A customer says you scratched a rim during the wash. What happens?* Pick a stance or choose Something else and write a sentence.
- Add anything you always tell customers (optional), then tap Write my terms.
- Watch the sections arrive. When the draft is ready, tap Use these terms. The text lands in the editor; Publish and continue publishes it.
From your Profile
- Open Profile → General terms and tap Write them for me (or Rewrite with AI when text already exists).
- Complete the same interview.
- Tap Publish General terms to publish straight away, or Edit before publishing to drop the draft into the editor on that page and publish from there.
From the General terms editor
- Open Profile → General terms → Advanced options to reach the full General terms editor.
- Next to the body, tap Write with AI (or Rewrite with AI when text already exists).
- When the draft is ready, tap Use these terms. If the editor already had text you'll confirm the replacement first.
- Edit anything you like, then Publish.
From the public terms builder (before you have an account)
- Open `/tools/terms-builder`, pick your business type, and answer the same interview.
- When the draft is ready, tap Get my terms and enter your name and email. You get the PDF right away and an email with the download link.
- The email also carries Use these terms on BookingLink. It opens signup with the draft attached; the onboarding Terms step arrives pre-filled, and Publish and continue puts the terms live.
- Anonymous drafts are capped per connection and per day. Signed-in providers use the dashboard doors above, which have their own limits.
- Ways in from the marketing site: the footer link Free terms builder, the Free tool card on every `/solutions/{slug}` industry page (same slug as the tool), and the strip on the home page after the trades grid. Each tool category page links back to its `/solutions` page.
Reading the coverage rail
Beside the draft, every risk in your industry's playbook shows a status:
- Covered — the section is written and substantial.
- Short — the section exists but is thin; read it and add detail in the editor if needed.
- Missing — the model skipped it; generate again or write it in yourself.
The plain-English note under the rail explains what the current section means for you — for example, that a pre-existing damage clause only helps if you actually take before-photos on every job.
Tips
- This is a starting point, not legal advice. Have a lawyer review the terms for your state before you rely on them.
- Publishing bumps the version. Past bookings keep the exact text customers accepted.
- Every generation is saved. Reopen the builder and choose Open last draft to continue where you left off.
- The document is written in English or Spanish — choose under Write the terms in on the first step.
- Deposits, cancellation rules and payment timing in the terms should match how you actually run bookings. If you later change a deposit, rewrite the terms so the two agree.
- Curated playbooks exist for Auto & Detailing, Pressure Washing, Cleaning Services, Lawn Care & Landscaping, Pet Grooming and HVAC. Other business types get the universal clauses plus estimates and a satisfaction rule.
